A flashback from the NBA All Access Preshow at the Conseco Fieldhouse, home of the next NBA Resurgence Pay Per View, flashes across the screen. --------------------------------- The camera picks up an Irate Ethan Everhart, chasing after Ian Mason inside the arena. Al: Folks, we are back! During the break, Ethan spotted Ian Mason....that backstabbing bastard, and has not stopped chasing him! Ian: GET AWAY FROM ME!!! ARE YOU CRAZY!?! Ethan: WE WERE FRIENDS YOU SON OF A BITCH!!! HOW COULD YOU!?! YOU'RE PART OF THE REASON WHY ERIN IS HURT!!! I AM GOING TO KICK YOUR ASS!!! Ian: AAAGGHH!!!! SOMEBODY HELP!!!! Ian jumps into a black limosine that passes by. The limo drives away, but not before Ethan picks up a brick and throws it into the back window, shattering it completely. Ethan sees someone climbing onto a Harley Davidson motorcycle. He pushes the person away, puts on the helmet and chases after the limo.Guy: HEY!!! Ethan: Don't worry, I'll bring it right back! Al: THIS IS NUTS!!! NOW IT'S A CAR CHASE FOLKS!!! I HOPE HE CATCHES HIM!!! ----------------------------------- End of flashback. The scene now opens in the White River Gardens - This stunningly beautiful, 3.3-acre landmark botanical attraction combines the best of gardening ideas, plant information and inspirational design. With over one thousand plant varieties on display, White River Gardens is an international showplace for Indiana where visitors can enjoy and learn about the bounty of the natural world. Ethan has decided to come here today to contemplate on his upcoming match with Dave McIntyre. It will be a match that he has been looking forward to. Even with the events that have occurred the past few weeks, no one is going to tell Ethan that he is not focused on this match.
Ethan is dressed casually, with brown faded jeans, a brown Timberland hooded sweater, and a brown pair of Nike sneakers. He walks further, almost staring at the ground, before pausing momentarily. He looks up, and then, towards the camera. Ethan's sharp blue eyes almost seem to penetrate the screen. They are the eyes of a man who has seen much....in such a short time.Ethan: "I know first hand that in this business, you will always encounter many distractions and many temptations to put your goals aside: The security of a job, a wife who wants kids, a friend who back stabs you, whatever. But I have also learned that if I hang in there, always following my vision, In the end, I have no doubt that I will succeed." Ethan turns away momentarily to admire the garden. He puts his hands inside his sweater pockets. There is a chill in the air. Ethan directs his attention to the camera once again. Ethan: "Dave, I am coming into this match focused on one thing, and one thing only, and that is winning the NBA United States Championship. Without Ian Mason at my side, I find myself not only focused, but ready. I am ready for this match. I am ready to make history at NBA Resurgence. You are, without a doubt, one of the toughest opponents I have ever faced. You are a legend in your own right. You are someone that I honestly respect. You are the kind of opponent that any competitor has to get ready for. I know how high the stakes are. I understand what this match means. To me, it's more than just two men in a competitive rivalry. This is about honor. This is about respect. This is about prestige." Prestige. The level of respect at which one is regarded by others. Prestige. A person's high standing among others; honor or esteem. Prestige. Widely recognized prominence, distinction, or importance. Prestige. The words almost seem to transcend the atmosphere. Ethan's mind now races back in time. He remembers his first encounter with Dave. The match was stopped due to interference. In their second encounter, his former manager once again interfered. Ethan: "Our last two matches, never answered any questions. Hopefully, this time around around, in what I know will be a spirited match, we can put to rest all the questions, and get straight to the answers. The good news is that with Ian out of the picture, there are no more distractions for me, as there used to be. I know that you like to say that this is business. And, obviously wrestling is a business. But, I would like to think that it means just a little bit more than that for me. You see, this is my livelihood. This is how I put food on the table. This is how I pay my medical bills, my phone bill, and my mortage. But most of all, this is my dream. This is my passion. This is my desire. To become the absolute best means that you have to beat the absolute best there is. Dave, you are one of the best there is, but at Resurgence, I will be "The Oracle" to the cries of my passion. I will answer the call and take care of "business", the way it was meant to be taken care of, inside the ring at the Conseco Fieldhouse." The scene momentarily fades to the outside of the Conseco Fieldhouse during the NBA All Access Event. Fans are seen cheering on Ethan Everhart and Dave McIntyre. The scene cuts to when Dave and Ethan are both signing autographs. The scene continues to run, as Ethan speaks.Ethan: "People have been talking about this one Dave. People have been talking about our match. It will be a match, unlike any other. It might even be the match of the year. Perhaps, one of the best ever in New Breed Alliance history. Dave, as I said before, I consider you to be a man that I know I can be friends with, but at Resurgence, it won't be personal....it won't even be about business....it will be about the NBA United States Championship. An Image of the NBA United States Championship is seen. The image slowly fades to Ethan Everhart, who slowly walks away from the camera and further into the garden. End of scene.

“The little reed, bending to the force of the wind, soon stood upright again when the storm had passed over.”
- Aesop There is a change of direction caused by the simplest blowing of the wind. Ethan knows this to be true. Even in life, the simplest turn of events can change the direction of a man's thoughts. They can change the direction of his heart. They can change the direction of his life. Ian Mason, Ethan's former manager and friend, knew what he was doing when he decided to be like the wind that changes its course without warning, and blow his business partnership, and most importantly his friendship of six years, with Ethan Everhart. Now, Ethan's life has a new direction. Better direction. Sometimes in life, it is better for a man to choose his own path, than to let someone else choose it for them. At times, a strong wind will keep the boats in the harbor, but is perfect for fantastic waves for surfing. In life, you have to take the good with the bad. Ian may have caused a rift in their relationship, but that doesn't mean that Ethan Everhart won't get his feet wet. As the old saying goes, "What doesn't kill me, only makes me stronger." Ethan is a stronger man today, than he was years ago. The wind ripples through the water, revealing the progress of nature. Ethan has progressed to a whole new level. It is where he wants to be. Who would not want to be in the position of becoming the next NBA United States Champion? Ethan Everhart is considered by some to be an uncrowned champion. But, Ethan has set a new sail, and he is letting nature take its course. His eyes is on the prize. Ethan's desire has become a strong wind. If you listen closely, the wind has a voice. You can hear him in the bristling of the tall grass. You can hear him when he blows against your window. Ian thought he was that wind in Ethan's life, but he was wrong. Erin Everhart, the wife of Ethan, has been the wind beneath Ethan's wings. It is because of her he can soar. It is because of her, he can fly higher than he ever has before. At times, he doesn't even need to flap his wings, because with her by his side, he has been known to simply glide through the air, almost effortlessly. That is not to say that his match with Dave McIntyre will be an easy one, but it does mean that with Erin by his side, he knows that he will reach down a lot more than usual, in order to get the win. Just as the Eagle glides against the harsh wind, Ethan plans to go through whatever he needs to go through, in order to become the next NBA United States Heavyweight Champion. The scene takes us to Ethan and Erin. They are located at the lawn at White River Stae Park in Indianapolis, Indiana. Her ankle has healed up considerably, as she is able to walk normally. They are both dressed comfortably in jeans and matching brown leather jackets. An NBA Camera crew is present for their comments. Erin: At the last NBA Surge, we were betrayed by someone that we had considered family. Ian Mason, was someone we trusted with our finances, and with our friendship. He decided to align himself with Bobby Money and his New Society faction. Ian made the mistake of thinking he knew what was best for my husband and for his career. Ian blew it for himself. As for my husband, he is better off without him. But in his place, there is someone a whole lot better....me. No one knows Ethan better than I do, and when we got married, we knew that we would be in it for better or for worse. My ankle has healed considerably, and I'm ready to be by my husbands side at the Resurgence Pay Per View. I hope to see him win the NBA United States Championship. Ethan: Thank you sweetheart. I'm glad to see you doing better. Erin: No thanks to Mark Mayhem. But he's another subject for another time, agreed? Ethan: Agreed. Right now, we are focused on our upcoming match with Dave McIntyre. Dave and myself have some history together now. We have been partners and we have been opponents. We have taken each other to the limit before, but this time, it will be for the NBA United States Championship. I have been asking about the history of this title here in the NBA. It's interesting to note, that the U.S. Title does actually have some history. Dave is only the third man to actually be the NBA U.S. Champion. I have to admit, that's quite impressive. The first NBA United States was someone named Jesse. Apparently, he was part of the original Three Amigos with Eddie G. and Kenua. The second person to hold the title was The Destroyer Steve Williams. He is now better known as The Paagon Steve Williams, and he was part of the FTW Faction. I don't know anything about this Jesse fellow, but I did take a peak at The Paragon's profile, and I have to admit that I was quite impressed with what he has accomplished in the NBA. Now, Dave McIntyre holds the title. Another man with an impressive resume. It seems to me, that not just anyone can win this title. There have only been three U.S. Champions in the NBA, and it is my desire to become the fourth. Erin: I believe you can do it, baby. Ethan: Coming from you Erin, that means everything. Erin: So I guess that's it then. Resurgence is right around the corner. Ethan: The clock is ticking away. I personally cannot wait. Erin: Me niether. We should go, it's getting late. Ethan: Right. Tomorrow is another day. Let's go, we have more training in the morning. And so, the scene slowly fades away as the couple continue to walk across the park lawn. As Ethan stated, tomorrow truly is another day.
To be continued.

Lust Gluttony Greed Sloth Wrath Envy Pride
7 little words, collectively know as the 7 deadly sins, according to catholic any of these sins need to be confessed, and could stop you getting through those pearly gates when your time has come. Looking at the list realistically, which man, woman or child can hold their hands up and truly say that they have never committed one of the offending list. Go on, think about it for a second, are you pure? No, I thought not, now just keep that in mind as the tale you are about to hear unfolds before you, and before judging ones actions, think about your own!
Slap, slap, slap
The sound of rubber pounding the wet concrete stets is all that can be heard on this still night in Edinburgh. As always its wet, wild and bloody freezing, but sometimes that can be the push you need to keep you going harder, pushing yourself beyond your limits just to avoid the bitter harsh reality of the cold and the darkness that surrounds you.
On this particular night Dave is pushing himself through barriers that he no longer knew he had, it has truly been a long time since Dave had worked so hard going into a match, but he was ready, physically, mentally and more importantly emotionally.
Over the last year it has been that last point that we have seen Dave slip up on time and time again. The Chosen one of old? He would have never found himself in the situations Dave has, McIntyre’s former self was the king of the mind games, messing with peoples heads and causing them to be defeated before the even stepped through the ropes, that Dave was cold and calculated, that Dave would sell out his best friends to get ahead, just ask the likes of Razor, Shawn Mackay, Tony Cliffton, Dante and Daniel Golding, to name but a few of his friends that he has turned his back on to get himself over.
That Dave would have laughed in the face of the modern day chosen one, a chosen one who has stood by his friends sides, helped them fight their battles, and put his own body on the line time and time again to entertain the fans, and win their approval, Dave had become everything that he used to despise, he had become the guy that always had to save the girl from the railway lines, and there is only so many times that you can do that before it gets repetitive and boring.
Its with this on his mind that Dave stands in the pouring rain, slowing down from a sprint to a gentle jog as he gets to Morningside park, a place where he used to play when he was kid. Dave slows down, slower and slower before coming to a complete stop beside the gates to swings. Long gone are the bright colors’ of his youth, they are replaced with old and rusty death traps, the paint peeling and flaking, in some ways Dave thought, that this could prove to be a metaphor for his career, once bright and shining, with so much promise, but as time wore on, and people took less care the became broken down and useless.
Dave steps through the gates and into the playground he walks over and runs his hand over the swing frames, the paint flaking off in his hands in the process.
McIntyre: All they need is a bit of care and effort and they could be great again, and once they become great once more people will flock around them, all pushing and shoving, unable to wait for their turn.
Sound familiar? It should do, it’s the story of a year in the life of The Chosen one. You see, as we turned into 2007, I was a lot like theses swing. I was broken down, I was falling apart, and guess what, nobody cared, I was left alone, by the fans, by the bookers, by the press, hell even by my own family and friends, nobody wanted to be associated with me. I was like theses guys right here *Dave points to the swings* standing alone in the rain and watching as the world passed me by, left to rot before my time.
Now fast forward a year, its 2008 and for the first time in my life I can understand why people say that a lot can change in a year. Here I stand before you all, I’m the NBA united states champion, I’ve headlined TV shows, appeared in main events all round the country, and in a matter of days am about to appear in one of the most anticipated bouts in NBA history.
I dot care what it says on the card, the match that is drawing people to resurgence is the us title match between “The Chosen one” and “the oracle” I know it, Ethan knows it, the fans know it, hell even all the boys in the back know it. We are the real main event.
Dave smiles and shrugs his shoulders, Dave may have buried a lot of his traits that the fans used to find not so endearing, but his cocky swagger and ego will always be there inside him, no matter how much he tries to suppress it.
McIntyre: And what of my opponent? The world is still wondering who will walk out with the title, which just adds to the appeal of this match. In the last two outings as Ethan so rightly pointed out thee was no decisive advantage, due to the constant outside interference we were not able to find out who the better man was, maybe now this seems advantageous as we build toward this epic encounter.
Along the road here we have seen many twists and turns, much heart ache and betrayal, but something tells me that there could be one final sting in the tail, one final swerve before this chapter of NBA history is closed. Ethan, I respect you, as a professional, there is no one that is going further that you in the future, and if you don’t end up with a world title round your waist before the end of the year I will publicly make out with Iron man in the ring, but something about this whole situation feels a little odd to me.
You see Ethan, there is that twinkle in your eyes, it’s the fire of desire, its that look that I know oh so well, it’s the look of a man that will do whatever it takes to become champion, a man who will do whatever it takes to become the best.
I know exactly how that feels Ethan, and I know exactly where this path leads. Evil. Take it from a man that has been through it Ethan I know what’s eating you, how many of them are beginning to take over your body Ethan? How many of the 7 deadly sins are flowing through your body, making your blood boil and your adrenaline pump, 4? 5? Face it man sin can do terrible things to a man, it can even make you turn on your friends.
Lust? This isn’t what most people would think, I’m not talking about the way half of the NBA lusts after Missy, or the way Jimmy lusts after me, no I’m talking about another lust. A lust for the gold. I had it bad when I was your age, I couldn’t get enough of the beautiful shiny titles, the more I saw the more I had to have, and the more I got, the more I had to have. From lust there is only one next step.
Greed? Like I said once you have gold lust you have to have more and more, I can’t really even explain how it feels, the fans would never understand it, you have to have lived through it, you are almost under a spell, you just need more and more some say gold makes them man, I used to agree, but let me share something I have learnt the hard way, it’s the man that makes the gold, not the other way round. If you are not man enough without it, you never will be, plain and simple.
Envy? This is one that will kill you, people look at the champion and they think he has everything, the lifestyle, the women, the fast cars, the massive parties. Soon, instead of being a god in the eyes of the fans, you become an outlet for their hatred and ridicule. They know they will never be able to achieve the success you have, so they can turn on you in an instant.
Ask yourself are you ready for that Ethan it hurt when your friend Ian pulled his best Judas impression, think how that would feel if all your fans hung you out to dry as well.
Pride? inordinate self-esteem; an unreasonable conceit of one's own superiority in talents, beauty, wealth, rank, , which manifests itself in lofty airs, distance, reserve, and often in contempt of others. They say pride comes before a fall, from a man who’s fall from grace was dramatic as mine I can but relate.
Pride however is not always a bad thing, in our world a man must take pride in his work in order to entertain the masses, if we didn’t we wouldn’t have a job, so if that is the reality perhaps the fans have condemned us to hell? Or perhaps the wrestling business as a whole?
So 4 of the deadliest sins Ethan, ready to condemn us both to hell, cause lets face it, at one time or another we have showed signs of all of them. At resurgence Ethan we will both walk through the fires of that hell our sins have cast us into, one of us will be walking out with the US championship, one of us won’t.
Dave smiles through the driving rain, his hair matted to his face, and raises his eyebrows.
McIntyre: I’ve been to hell and back before son, and lived to tell the tale, resurgence will be no different, my time is not up yet.
With that Dave turns and disappears into the darkness of the night, leaving us all thinking about our own personal sin. Perhaps we are all doomed to spend an eternity in the underworld……
…then again, maybe not!

McIntyre: Will they remember you when you have gone, or will the simply forget you like last weeks dinner.
Fade in on the NBA US champion, sitting alone in the middle of a wrestling ring, that is the heart of his Edinburgh gym. This gym earlier in the day was full of young hopefuls, training with the chosen one and hoping to gain some of his vast knowledge of the business. The hustle and bustle of a few hours before has long ceased and every single one of Dave’s students have gone home. The gym is now peaceful, idyllic, lit only by the warm orange glow of the setting sun streaming in through the windows, the chosen one is bathed in the light, and looks very much relaxed, spread out across the matt in his workout gear contemplating what lies ahead in his US title battle at resurgence.
McIntyre: Ethan my friend, that’s a question I want you to think long and hard about as we head into resurgence, because when we have left everything in the ring, and are US title match is over, you need the answer to be yes, they will remember me.
Like I have said before Ethan, you are one of the fastest rising stars that I have seen in sometime, and your destiny is to make it to the top of this business, but to get there you need to take advantage of every opportunity that comes your way, you see having talent is not always all it takes.
I have seen many men come and go in my 16 years at the top, some of them with even more promise than yourself, but there was something they lacked, something they were missing, maybe it was the desire to be great, to have the world talking about you as the best when you time has come to leave the business, to have your name mentioned in the same breath as Ric Flair, Bret Hart, Jimmy Ice or Dave McIntyre! Or maybe they simply didn’t want it enough either way, you need to look inside yourself over the next few days Ethan, and ask yourself that very question……when all is said and done, will they remember me?
Ethan resurgence will go a long way to helping you build a legacy, me? Mine is already there, I have nothing left to prove to anyone, but yet I keep adding to my legacy week, after week, after week, but you? This could be the very beginning for you. Think about it Ethan, picture the scene, I’m on the mat, as you stand above me, shattered and dripping with sweat, but victorious as the referee raises your hand and hands you the US title which you hold up for the whole world to see.
Dave pauses for a moment to let his words wash over Ethan, who you just know will be watching from his home.
McIntyre: Picture the moment Ethan, how does it feel? Good isn’t it? Its like a high like no other, but Ethan pal, enjoy that day dream, cause lets face it that’s all it ever can be for you while this title is round my waist, cause there is no chance in hell that I’m letting you take this title away from me, this title means I am one of the best, right here, right now. It is a symbol that shows I will do whatever it takes to be the greatest in the wrestling business, and I owe that, not just to myself, but the business as a whole, you see a long time ago, wrestling saved my life……let me take you for a trip down memory lane.
The repetitive baseline of a hard house classic thumps through the packed club, and a swaying mass of bodies move in what seems like slow motion as a strobe light flickers faster and faster, its just another Saturday night, and everyone who is anyone in Edinburgh is here soaking up the capitals famous hospitality. The rich, the beautiful, the successful, they are all represented and ready to party long into the night. In the nightclubs toilet however lies a different story, its here, on his hands and knees snorting lines of coke off the toilet seat that we find the man who was formally know as The Chosen One.
SNORTTTTTT! Dave takes another line of his white powdery comfort blanket up his right nostril and laughs to himself at nothing in particular as he is doing so. He is a site to be see. The heir to the McIntyre hotel chain and RWF tag team champion had fallen quicker than most since the wrestling company had closed its doors, and unfortunately for Dave, this was just like every other night since he had found himself out of a job. All he seemed to be doing was hanging out in clubs with a load of junkies who couldn’t give a fuck if he live or died, as long as the drugs kept coming.
SNORTTTT! Dave makes sure his left nostril doesn’t feel left out as he sticks a line up there just for good measure. To look at you would never expect that this was the same man, who only a month earlier was considered to be one of the most promising youngsters in wrestling. A man who would not go out the house unless he was done up like smoothing out of the Armani catalogue, but now, now he was sat on his ass in a men’s room floor, looking like he hadn’t see a bar of soap in weeks and hardly able to stand up to escape the puddle of someone else’s piss he was sat in.
Dave is eventually able to pull himself up, with the aid of the toilet seat some pure good luck alone, and makes his way over to the sinks. He steadies himself on the was basin and looks at himself in the mirror. What the hell had happened to him, what had he become? How could he let himself get so caught up in the darkside of Edinburgh culture that he could barley see through is concoction of vodka and cocaine that ran through his body, morning, noon and night.
Dave shakes his head and takes the time to slash some cold water on his face, the ice cold shock does little to revive his senses, that seem to have left him for good, now the only two things he had was sleeping all day, and getting wasted all night. Just then one of his “friends” Liam stumbles into the toilet and wraps his arm around Dave.
Liam: hey Davey ya wee shite, whit ya doin’ hiding away in here? We got this right rare wee bird lined up for you outside.
Some of the sparkle comes back into Dave’s eyes, he may have lost the ability to do everything else in his life he used to be good at, but even he knew he could still satisfy the ladies. He allowed himself to be led by Liam out of the toilets, and back to the dark corner of the club where all his hangers on had gathered. Dave looked around the sorry bunch and shook his head a little sadly, they had to be the saddest collection of individuals he had ever seen, 4 junkies, 2 convicted criminals and one prostitute. At least I’m not as low on the food chain as these guys thought Dave, but in reality that’s is exactly what he was, no more than your average Junkie, difference being he had a bit of cash in his pocket, and could attract friends with promises of paying for there drugs, and having all night parts at his Morningside home.
Dave looks round the group, looking for the girl Liam had been talking about. Where was this lovely young thing that had the privilege of being a notch on the bed post of The Chosen One? Dave watched in horror as Liam put his arm round the biggest bird Dave had seen in his life, and proceed to make the introductions.
Liam: Dave, this is Vikki…..is nae she a wee cracker?
Dave stood open mouthed in disbelief, he could not believe that one of his friends would set him up with a heifer like this, after all that he had done for him as well.
Dave: emm aye, she is something, but I’m no sure wee is the word I would use.
Liam: ach come on son, fat birds need loving tae ya ken.
Dave rolled his eyes, how could he go from sleeping with supermodels, to being a fat birds last resort, this had to be some sort of joke, god had to be taking the piss. Dave could just picture him now, looking down and laughing at the man who had almost devoted himself to a life of sin, and now was being punished for it.
Dave: for fucks sake man, get tae fuck! There is no way I am wasting my energy on that. For a start I wouldn’t be able to find her damn gash for all the rolls of flab, and secondly I’m way to fucked to be moving heavy objects.
The poor girl looks positively mortified as she looks down at the floor and shuffles her feet awkwardly.
Dave: Are you daft love or just plain stupid, I don’t like you, now fuck off!
The rest of the group just stand open mouthed as Dave’s normally calm exterior is broken. They watch as Dave barges his way through the crowd and heads to the bar for yet another shot of Vodka.
Dave quickly gets his shots lined up and is soon hammering down shot after shot of the potent brew, cringing with every gulp as the strong clear poison that burns as it slides down his throat.
McIntyre: Give me 5 more!
The poor bartender behind the bar shakes his head and looks at the sorry state of a man before him.
Bar tender: I’m sorry, but we can’t serve you anymore.
Dave tries to get to his feet but stumbles and collapses into the bar. He pulls himself up and grabs the bar man by his tie.
McIntyre: don’t you know who I am? I’m Dave fucking McIntyre you little twat and if I say I want another drink, your going to get me one.
By this point the bouncers have made there way across and grab Dave, dragging him off kicking and screaming across the floor and towards the exit. The grab Dave by the back of his neck and toss him out the door onto the cold wet pavement outside, where he lies for several minutes trying to regain his composure as the rain begins to soak through his close to his skin.
Dave is finally able to regain enough composure to get back to a sitting position, and sits on the edge of the pavement just staring down into the gutter as rain droplets fall from his hair and run slowly down his face. A few passers by look on with pity, not even recognising what was once one of Edinburgh’s richest men, instead now all the see is a dirty, drunken bum, who doesn’t even have the ability to stand up.
Dave started thinking about his family, his mother and his sister, and how proud they were the first time he made it on TV. He remembers them coming out to see him main event RWF shows, along with his tag team partner Shawn Mackay, and remembers how happy they were for him. But that had all changed, when RWF shut its doors Dave shunned all the people that loved him, his poor old dear had tried to take him in, and tried to comfort him, how had he repaid her? By stealing from her, by taking her money and spending it all on drugs and alcohol to feed his ever growing habit.
And what of his sister, her thanks for being there for him was even worse. As she tried to comfort her big brother and tell him everything was going to be alright, he took his frustrations out on her and used her as a human punching bag, laying into her time and time again till she was black and blue and could barley stand. Dave was no longer a man, he was pure evil, what sort of monster beats his 16 year old sister within an inch of her life?
Dave pushes himself up and staggers off along the dark narrow back streets of Edinburgh’s old town, which are seeping in history of body snatchers, witches and highway men, but at that moment Dave realised that he may be the evilest thing to walk down the old cobbled roads.
It takes Dave about half an hour to make what is normally a 10 minute walk up to the gates of Edinburgh castle, the huge castle gates my have been closed, but Dave is more than happy to sit on the battlements and look down upon the city, all lit up like a Christmas tree, stretching out below him.
How much easier would life be, Dave thought, if he were to take a nose dive off the walls, with all the rocks that he would hit on the way down he was sure he would be dead before he hit the bottom. Oh sure, some people would say it was the easy way out, but fuck it, he was at the bottom anyway, he couldn’t really get much lower could he?
Dave took several deep breaths as he looked down, way down to Princess street gardens and the people milling around down below, from here they look liked ants, scurrying around, trying to keep themselves dry, oblivious to the dilemma that was going on at the castle battlements hundreds of feet above there heads.
This was it though Dave taking another deep breath, I’ll show all those people who turned on me, they will stand beside my lifeless body and they will weep openly. Look at what you have done you bastards, look at what you turned me into. Dave again then let his sister and mother creep into his head, how would this affect them? I mean sure, they might be glad that the steeling and the beatings stooped, but what sort of physiological damage would it do to them, their only son, their only brother, threw himself off Edinburgh’s most famous landmark and plunged to his death? They would never be able to look at the place again.
Dave is lost in between his thoughts, still in two minds what to do when he is brought back to earth by the ringing of his cell phone, Dave looks down at the caller ID and is puzzled to see the words “International” instead of displaying the callers number. Dave shook his head and tried to think for a few seconds, who the hell did he know abroad. The question was soon answered when he flicked open the phone and was met by an out of breath and excited Shawn Mackay.
McIntyre: Hello?
Mackay: Dave man, its Shawn…..how the hell are you dude?
Dave didn’t say a word, he was puzzled as to why his former Tag team partner was calling, after all they had not spoken since that ill fated day when RWF went out of business and the two were forced to go their own ways.
McIntyre: What do you want Shawn?
Dave’s voice neither displayed the enthusiasm or warmth that Shawn’s did, in fact he was as cold as he ever had been with his former running buddy.
Mackay: I have great news……..we have been hired!!!
McIntyre: Come again?
Mackay: Yeah, me, you and Tony….they want Weapon of Choice Dave!
Slowly a smile began to spread across Dave’s face, was this really happening, was he about to get a second go round and a chance to write the wrongs that he had done?
McIntyre: Who want’s us Shawn?
Mackay: A company called Edge Pro Wrestling Davey Boy, they have just restated after being shut down for a bit….but Dave there is one condition.
McIntyre: What’s that?
Mackay: You need to be clean.
There is a long pause as Dave lets Shawn’s words wash over him. Could he really kick all his bad habits into touch to get another shot at the big time, could he really try to put things right with his mam and his sister? Dave really didn’t know the answer, but he knew on thing…..he was willing to try.
McIntyre: I can be…..its gonna be hard, but I can be.
Mackay: good man, get your shit together over there, and be over at mine by next week…..we are back baby!
McIntyre: You know something Ethan, its ironic, the thing that my father had told me would ruin my life, saved it, and maybe that is one of the reasons I am so passionate about what I do, maybe that’s why I refuse to say my time is up and walk away from it all. I will tell you one thing that’s for damn sure, that is one reason I refuse to let you take what I hold dear.
Your good Ethan, but I am better, you should view our feud as a teaching session man, with one of the best tutors in the world, and when is over, and you move on to your next opponent, you can shake my hand and say thanks Dave, thanks for the lesson.
The hour is almost upon us Ethan, use the remaining few hours wisely…….see you soon my friend, real soon.
